How much does artificial turf cost?

Artificial Turf Pricing varies by the type and size. See our product pages for specific prices.

The advantage of artificial turf used in place of natural grass is that you will save considerable time and money over the years by not paying for fertilizer, lawn mowers, and gasoline, while having a beautiful lawn at the same time.

How wide is your artificial turf?

Our new turf generally comes in either 12' or 15' wide rolls. Our used turf was either 12' or 15' wide as a brand new product, but narrower rolls may be available.

Is artificial turf easily cleaned and maintained?

Yes. For Grass-Like Artificial Turf used outside, simply use a leaf blower or broom to clean off any debris. It can also be hosed with water and since the backing has holes in it, the water will seep through and be absorbed by the ground underneath.

For Carpet-Like Artificial Turf used indoors or outdoors, simply clean just like you would a carpet, i.e. vacuum cleaner or power washer.

Is your turf drainable?

As a general rule of thumb, products made to look like grass have perforations for drainage, while more traditional short pile turf might not be drainable. Each product detail should contain more information about whether that specific item is drainable. Please contact us at 800.365.6171 or info@ondecksports.com if you have additional questions.

Is the turf good for pets?

Yes. When artificial turf is used outside, it can easily be cleaned with a hose. The plastic backing is porous so water and pet urine will absorb into the ground just like on natural grass. Other pet accidents are cleaned in the same way as on a regular lawn.

Can my turf ship ground via UPS or FedEx, or will it come on an 18-wheel truck?

What is infill?

Infill is a fine sand or rubber tires that have been ground into a fine crumb that goes on top of the longer blades of any grass like turf. Usually the less dense the turf, the more infill is required; the plusher the turf is, the less infill is required. Some products can be filled with all sand, some all rubber, and some do well with a combination sand/rubber mix. See more information about our rubber infill here.

What are turf spikes?

Turf spikes (6" long) are used to secure an outdoor turf down to the sub-base, roughly every 12-18 inches around the perimeter and along the seam. Purchase a set of 24 here.

What does Face Weight refer to?

The "Face Weight" refers to the amount of material per square yard. For example, a 36 oz piece of turf will seem sturdier than an 18 oz piece of the same yarn type, because there is more yarn in the same size piece of turf.

What does Yarn Type refer to?

There are 3 yarn types when it comes to our artificial turf. Nylon turf is considered to be the highest quality because of its durability. Turf made of polypropylene monofilament, "Mono" yarn type is typically harder and will last longer, while Polyethylene, "Poly" turf tends to be a softer material.

What does Height refer to?

The Height refers to the length of the individual blades, or how tall the turf is. For "Carpet Like" turf, this typically ranges from ¼ in to ¾ in. For "Grass Like" Turf, this can range from 1 to 2 inches.

What does Backing refer to?

Backing refers to the material on the back of the piece of turf and comes in two forms, Padding and "Unitary." Padding is made of a foam material which provides a more "cushiony," softer feel when walking on the turf. The padding can vary in thickness and typically comes in 5mm, 3mm, 5/8 in or 3/8 in. "Unitary" backing is a thin, hard, plastic material underneath the turf blades. This can be perforated for drainage or not.
