Welcome back to a special edition of Facility Feature Friday! Today we are very excited to showcase the personal facility of former MLB starting pitcher and World Series champion, CC Sabathia.

Drafted out of high school in the first round of the 1998 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), Sabathia quickly rose through the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 2001. Sabathia wasted no time making noise in the majors, finishing second in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2001 while making his first two All-Star appearances in 2003 and 2004.

Sabathia had the best statistical season of his career in 2007, where he was an all-star and the winner of the American League Cy Young award with the Indians. In 2008, Sabathia was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers at the trade deadline before becoming a free agent that offseason. Due to his early career success, Sabathia signed a 7-year, $161 million contract with the New York Yankees before the 2009 season. During his Yankees tenure, Sabathia helped them win the 2009 World Series and was an all-star from 2010 to 2012. Sabathia spent the rest of his career with the Yankees before retiring after the 2019 season.

Sabathia’s facility was already equipped with an in-home basketball court, but he knew there was room for more. To fully optimize his space, Sabathia chose to install a retractable batting cage on the court.

On Deck Sports helped Sabathia install a #60 Nylon Custom Batting Cage, with dimensions of 38' L x 15' W x 17' H. In addition, the setup comes with a #60 Batting Cage Door Panel and an 18 oz Solid Black Vinyl Screen.

Our facility experts helped Sabathia land on our top-of-the-line #60 netting, which was the perfect fit for his space. On Deck Sports coat’s and dye’s each individual strand of netting while using UV inhibitors for extra durability.

Sabathia went with our GT48 Padded Artificial Turf w/ 5mm Foam to cover the floor. The GT48 Padded Artificial Turf is our most popular artificial turf option for indoor facilities. Weighing 48 oz with a ¾ ‘ H x 15’ W, this 5mm padded turf provides the softest feel while still holding up to heavy traffic. The turf even reacts like real grass!

To complete the setup, Sabathia made sure to fill out the space with On Deck Sports training aids. The space is now equipped with an On Deck Sports Ball Bucket, Hack Attack Pitching Machine, PVTee, and a Clay Inlaid Batting Mat Pro!

On Deck Sports offers full installation packages and shipping straight to your facility. For more information, check out our Indoor Sports Facility Design page on the website! To speak to a sales representative, fill out a facility request form or call us at 1-800-365-6171.
