Welcome back to Facility Feature Friday! Today we are showcasing Journey Christian Fellowship in Quinton, Virginia!
Journey Christian Fellowship recently worked with On Deck Sports to install a batting cage in their gym. Having moved into a new facility during the last few years, Journey Christian Fellowship had already installed a gym, but they were looking to expand. Already equipped with a basketball court, the team decided to turn the gym into a 2-in-1 facility by adding batting cages.
2-in-1 sports facilities can be very beneficial for schools, teams, and organizations. Many organizations run on low budgets, so having a 2-in-1 facility can be more cost friendly. Journey Christian Fellowship decided on this type of gym for its versatility. The gym is very beneficial for youth camps and clinics where they are playing multiple sports during the day.
On Deck Sports helped Journey Christian Fellowship install a Fully Retractable Sports Cage with #60 Knotted Netting. Our facility experts helped them land on our top-of-the-line #60 netting, as well as a #42 Nylon Custom Ceiling Net for extra protection. On Deck Sports coat’s and dye’s each individual strand of netting while using UV inhibitors for extra durability.
The first batting cage lane Journey Christian Fellowship installed is 80’ L x 20’ W x 28’ H, while the second lane is 70’ L x 20’ W x 28’ H. With the cages being fully retractable, they can move them to the ceiling and have plenty of room for basketball!
In addition, a #60 Gauge Electrafold Vinyl Divider Curtain was installed. They are able to only bring down the divider curtain while keeping the batting cage lanes in the ceiling! This allows them to optimize their space and allow for multiple practice areas at a time. If a team was practicing, they could split up and do infielding drills on one side of the net and outfielding drills on the other!
