MLB All-Star Week is here! The MLB’s biggest stars are taking their talents to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas for the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game! To celebrate the festivities, here are some 2024 MLB All-Star’s training with On Deck Sports equipment!
Jarren Duran - Boston Red Sox, OF
What a season it has been for Jarren Duran! The Red Sox leadoff man has played every game for the club so far, batting .284 with 10 Home Runs, 41 RBIs, and a .819 OPS while also stealing 22 bases. Most impressively, Duran ranks 5th in the MLB in WAR at 5.1.
Drafted in the 7th round of the 2018 MLB Draft, 27 year-old Duran made his MLB debut in. During the last 3 seasons, Duran only appeared in 193 of 486 MLB games, spending time in both Triple-A and the majors. However, the 2024 season has come full circle for Duran, as he has finally cemented his place in the Red Sox core for the foreseeable future. The heart and soul of the 2024 Boston Red Sox is appearing in his first ever all-star game this season, making the team as a reserve.
Here is Duran putting in some work last offseason with the Batting Mat Pro from On Deck Sports!
Bobby Witt Jr. - Kansas City Royals, SS
After signing an 11-year, $288.7 million contract extension with the Royals this past offseason, Bobby Witt Jr. is making his first ever all-star appearance this season as a reserve. Drafted 2nd overall in the 2019 MLB draft, Witt Jr. rose through the minor leagues as one of baseball’s top prospects before making his MLB debut in 2022.
The 24 year-old shortstop is having an excellent season for a hot Royals squad, hitting .323 with 16 Home Runs, 63 RBIs, and a .927 OPS. Like Duran, Witt Jr. is one of the league leaders in WAR, currently sitting in 4th with a 5.2 WAR. A case could be made for Bobby Baseball being one of baseball’s few five-tool players, excelling in all aspects of the game at a high level. The Royals’ face of the franchise looks to lead them to the playoffs this season for the first time since they won the World Series in 2015.

Logan Webb - San Francisco Giants, SP
It’s hard to believe this is the first time Logan Webb is an all-star. Drafted out of high school in the 4th round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the 27 year-old is now one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball. Webb made his MLB debut in 2019 but didn’t have his breakout season until 2021, where he was an integral part of the Giants’ 107-win season.
The Giants’ ace had his best season in 2023, leading the MLB in innings pitched at 216 and finishing 2nd in National League Cy Young voting. Webb has carried his consistency into 2024, leading the MLB in games started and the National League in innings pitched. As of the all-star break, Webb is 7-7 with a 3.47 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, a 2.79 FIP, and 107 strikeouts.

Aaron Judge - New York Yankees, OF
As the top leading vote getter in the American League, Aaron Judge is appearing in his 6th All-Star game in 2024. What’s even more impressive is that he will have started in all 6 appearances once this year’s midsummer classic kicks off.
The 32 year-old was drafted in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Yankees. After making his debut in 2016, Judge broke out in 2017, winning the AL Rookie of the Year and finishing second in AL MVP voting. Since then, Judge has been a top 5 player in the MLB and has a case of being the game’s best pure hitter. In 2022, Judge set the sports world off by storm, breaking the single season AL Home Run record with 62 bombs while winning his first ever MVP award. Judge is currently the favorite to take home the AL MVP again in 2024, hitting .306 with 34 Home Runs, 85 RBIs, and a 1.112 OPS, where he leads the MLB in the 3 latter categories. In addition, Judge is 1st in the MLB in WAR at 6.4.

Clay Holmes - New York Yankees, CP
Yankees closing pitcher Clay Holmes is making his second career All-Star Game appearance in 2024. Drafted in the 9th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Holmes made his debut in 2018 as a relief pitcher. He remained on the Pirates big league club until being traded to the Yankees during the 2021 season.
2022 was Holmes’ breakout season, where he earned the closer role for the first time in his big league career. In addition, he was elected to his first ever All-Star Game that same season while helping the Yankees reach the ALCS. So far in 2024, Holmes is posting a 2.77 ERA, a 1.308 WHIP, a 2.73 FIP, and 21 saves, where he is on pace to surpass his personal single-season save record (24).
