The On Deck Sports Story: A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence

In 2001, Massachusetts high school baseball coach Joe Murphy brainstormed the idea of an indoor pitching mound. Murphy, a former University of Rhode Island catcher, needed a solution for his pitchers to be able to practice when the conditions wouldn’t allow it. Later that spring, he launched ProMounds.

Starting out small, Murphy sold portable and lightweight turf pitching mounds to coaches in the New England area. After consistent success, ProMounds expanded business and rebranded to On Deck Sports in 2008.

On Deck Sports grew by selling baseball & softball products but quickly branched out to other areas.  Through our proprietary training products and facility improvement capabilities, On Deck Sports transformed to a well-rounded sports company. That was taken to a new level in 2021 when we launched On Deck Golf. With products like turf & netting, we knew that we could provide more than just baseball and softball services. In this process, we added a full line of golf course and range supplies to our catalog - with club pros, course owners, and public works in mind. To date, our golf division has grown in both support staff and scope.

That was the beginning of our goal to expand our offerings into more sports. We took things to the next level in 2024 with the launch of our new logo and website.

Since 2008, On Deck Sports branding has been focused around our script logo, reminiscent of a baseball uniform. But now, we are much more than just a baseball and softball company. In addition to baseball, softball, and golf, we have expanded our business into several other sports, including soccer, pickleball, football, tennis, cricket, and everyday training.

The team at On Deck Sports has been excited to share the new logo. “The logo will help drive us into a new era of On Deck Sports.” says Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Greg Baldwin.  “With the new logo, we are bringing every aspect of our company under one roof.”

Similar to our new logo, the new website features highlight the depth of our products.

The updated website has several new features, including a popular products section, facility features section, testimonials, and a link to the On Deck Sports Instagram page. However, our biggest new feature is the addition of the Shop By Sport tab. This section, which includes Baseball & Softball, Golf, Soccer, and Pickleball, allows for easier navigation tailored to your product needs. To see our new changes, check out our home page!
